Glossary

Retina – The back of your eye, which receives all the images you see and transmits them through the optic nerve to your brain.

Cornea – The invisible outer covering of your eye, that covers the iris (the colored part) and pupil.

Lens – Located behind the iris, the lens focuses light so that it creates a clear image on the retina.

Pupil – The black part of your eye, through which light enters and creates an image on the retina.

Myopia – Nearsightedness. This means you can see things up close pretty well, but things far away are blurry.

Hyperopia – Farsightedness. This means you can see things far away but things up close look blurry.

Ophthalmologist – A doctor who specializes in treating poor eyesight and diseases in the eye.
